Chesapeake Athletic Association Leadership, Teamwork, Scholarship and Excellence
|

History
Three years ago , Geral Stukes and Lamar Elliott, two people dedicated to the community
and its youth decided that some extracurricular activities were needed in the Chesapeake
area. Both of them come with a wealth of experience in recreation: Lamar Elliott served
on the Chesapeake Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for eight years, and Geral
Stukes worked with the Deep Creek Football and Cheer Association for ten years. With
almost twenty years of experience between them, they noticed that Chesapeake needed
more than Parks and Recreation could offer.
In 2004 Chesapeake's first Pop Warner Association in Chesapeake, VA was born!
Pop Warner football has been around since the inception of the league in 1929 by
founder Joseph Tomlin as a four-team conference in Northeast Philadelphia. Since then,
participation has increased to over 240,000 youth nationwide. Due to Geral and Lamar's
hard work, Chesapeake is one of its newest members.
Community Involvement
In the first year of membership to the Pop
Warner league, the Chesapeake
Wolverines Football and Cheer
participated in events that instil the values
lost in many of the youth today:
- Clean Up the Bay Day, 2005, 2007
- Get Out and Vote campaign, 2005

From the desk of Lamar Elliott, President
We are a non-profit youth athletic association with tax exemption status (501-3C) in the
Chesapeake, VA area. The Chesapeake Athletic Association ("CAA") staff is currently
comprised of eight active people. These dedicated eight people are responsible for
providing young children with the best programs and equipment possible. Our association
has completed a very successful second season in the Pop Warner football league. We
had six teams for our 2006 season. Our numbers are growing daily and we are looking
forward to a more prosperous season for 2007!
The ultimate goal for the Chesapeake Athletic Association ("CAA") is to have athletic
programs in all sports arenas so that we can maintain year round programs for our
community's youth. The youth of Chesapeake are a priority to our association and any
type of support, financially or logistically will assist to attain our goals.

and parents that have a heart for the youth and are willing to work together to build an
organization that can make us all proud to be a part of.
